Bring Your Best Friend to Cornwall

Planning a Cornish escape but can't imagine leaving the dog behind? We don't blame you!

At Doublebois Lodge Escape, we know that for many of us, dogs are part of the family. And with the coast, countryside and plenty of brilliant walkies nearby, we're perfectly placed for a dog-friendly holiday near Looe.

So find their favourite ball, pack their lead and prepare yourself for some sandy paws!

Explore Looe With Your Four-Legged Friend

Located on the south east coast, Looe is one of Cornwall's best-loved seaside towns and a lovely place to spend the day with your dog.

Take a wander around the harbour, watch the fishing boats come and go then explore the narrow streets before finding somewhere for a drink or a bite to eat. As with the rest of the county, many places are dog-friendly so you’re likely to be spoilt for choice.

There are plenty of opportunities for a good sniff around too, the surrounding coastline offers beautiful coastal walks in both directions with no two views the same.

Please do keep an eye out for local beach restrictions, particularly during the summer months, and keep a close eye on your dog (ideally on a lead) when walking the coastal paths.

Discover Talland Bay

A short way along the coast from Looe you'll find gorgeous Talland Bay, a beautiful spot between Looe and Polperro.

Set off along the iconic South West Coast Path where you’ll discover hidden coves, rolling hills and magnificent sea views that make you stop every five minutes to take another photo. Keen eyes might also spot dolphins if the conditions are calm.

Both you and your pooch can then cool off back at Talland Bay before returning to Doublebois. We also recommend checking for any seasonal beach restrictions before setting off.

Walk the Coast to Polperro

If you and your dog have plenty of energy, the (steep) coast around Polperro is well worth exploring.

This part of Cornwall is simply made for walking, with dramatic coastal scenery and footpaths all winding down towards pretty bays and picturesque fishing villages.

Afterwards, head into Polperro for a wander around the harbour and a well-earned bite to eat.

Just remember that coastal paths can be steep in places and livestock may be nearby, so keep dogs under close control.

Find a Dog-Friendly Beach

No dog-friendly holiday near Looe would be complete without a trip to the beach.

While some of Cornwall's busiest beaches have seasonal dog restrictions, there are plenty of lovely coastal spots you can all explore nearby.

Portnadler Bay is a great choice for adventurous dogs and their humans, with the South West Coast Path running through the area and beautiful coastal scenery to enjoy.

For a gentler day out, try Seaton Beach (with nearby Seaton Country Park also worth adding to your holiday list), where you’ll find miles of soft sands, gentle waters and excellent facilities.

Please always check the latest beach signage and flags before letting your dog race towards the sea.

Head Into the Woods

Had enough of sand in the car?!

Then swap the coast for the trees and head to Cardinham Woods.

With miles of woodland trails to explore, it's a brilliant place for a dog walk and an easy option when you fancy a change from the coast.

Closer to Doublebois, Golitha Falls National Nature Reserve offers magical woodland scenery which runs alongside the River Fowey.

Both are excellent options for tiring out energetic dogs before a peaceful evening back at your lodge.
