Swap soggy school runs for muddy wellies, colourful woodland walks and cosy evenings together with an October half term holiday at Doublebois.
Tucked away in the peaceful Cornish countryside, our selection of spacious lodges and holiday homes give the whole family plenty of room to switch off and enjoy autumn at its best.
Spend your days crunching through fallen leaves, exploring Cornwall's coast and countryside or visiting some of the county's best family attractions. Then head back to your holiday home from home, snuggle down and relax together. You could even opt for the warm bubbles of your own private hot tub, the perfect place for some star gazing.
Woodland walks, coastal trails, family attractions and Cornish towns and villages are all waiting to be explored.
Choose one of our hot tub lodges and there's something particularly lovely about slipping into warm bubbles after a chilly autumn adventure.
Don't leave your four-legged family members behind. Doublebois has a great choice of dog-friendly accommodation, with up to two dogs staying free in selected properties.
There is something rather special about Cornwall in autumn.
The summer crowds have started to disappear, the countryside is transforming into beautiful shades of orange and gold with the cooler days providing the perfect excuse to pull on your wellies and get outside.
At Doublebois, you’re perfectly placed to do just this. There's plenty of space to enjoy the countryside around the park, including our pretty forest walk, while some of Cornwall's favourite family attractions are within easy reach.
And when the Cornish weather does what it sometimes does? No problem. Head to the iconic Eden Project or historic Bodmin Jail for a day full of indoor adventures before returning to your lodge where you can while away the evening together.
Whether you head outside or in, we have got your October half term sorted.
Head to Cardinham Woods, just ten minutes down the road, where miles of woodland trails wind beneath towering trees. Follow the stream, hunt for Gruffalo characters with younger children or choose a longer route with older adventurers. Afterwards, reward yourselves with something delicious at the award-winning, and incredibly cosy, Woods Café. Closer to home, you can take a stroll directly from your accommodation through our woodland area as it tumbles down to the River Fowey. Keep an eye out for wildlife along the way, from squirrels to birdlife, it’s a great way to get your outdoor autumn fix.
Thanks to our central location, Doublebois is an ideal base allowing you to spend your October half term as busy – or as wonderfully unhurried – as you want it to be.
Step inside the tropical rainforest at the Eden Project, discover Victorian life at Lanhydrock, or brave the atmospheric cells and stories of Bodmin Jail – particularly fitting as Halloween approaches.
If the sun is shining, wrap up warm and head for the coast where you can drink in the fresh sea air. Explore Looe and Polperro, walk a stretch of the South West Coast Path or simply find a spot on the beach and make the most of having a little more space to yourself.
After a day spent outdoors, there’s nothing better than head back to your warm lodge, kicking off those muddy wellies and settling in for the evening.
Cook everyone's favourite dinner, get the board games out, curl up on the sofa with a film or simply enjoy having nowhere else you need to be.
And if you've chosen one of our spa lodges or holiday homes, step outside and into your private hot tub. Cool autumn evenings and warm bubbling water are a pretty perfect combination, not to mention the clear skies Cornwall experiences during the autumn months.
Sink beneath the bubbles, gaze out across the countryside and savour those rare moments when the whole family is happy doing absolutely nothing.
Not every day of your October half term needs an itinerary.
Sometimes the best family holidays are the ones where everyone gets to slow down.
Stay close to home and enjoy Doublebois' nine-hole golf course, tennis court, adventure playground and woodland walks, or simply enjoy some downtime together in your lodge.
Then, when you're ready for another adventure, Cornwall is waiting just beyond the park.
Check out our blog section which is packed with ideas to help you get the best out of your stay with us. Come rain or shine, there is always plenty of fun to be had.
